What Are Some Of The Best CBD Strains And What Are Their Benefits?

April 09, 2018

These days, most cannabis strains are either THC-dominant or a THC/CBD blend. You can find high-CBD strains, but they’re not as common.

The psychedelic effects many people enjoy so much are caused by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). However, if you’re looking for more medical benefits sans any cognitive effects, cannabidiol (CBD) is what you’ll need. CBD is used to treat a plethora of ailments which include inflammation, pain, anxiety, depression, epilepsy, and so much more.

The only problem is, smokable strains that are rich in CBD can be daunting to find. Some of the most common CBD-dominant strains are:

  • Harlequin – This strain is consistent, with a nice, reliable ratio of 5:2 CBD to THC. Harlequin produces all the effects you’d expect from a CBD strain with some sativa characteristics mixed in. It’s one of the most popular CBD-strains available today.
  • Cannatonic – The CBD expression in this strain ranges from 6 to 7 percent, with THC levels staying well below 6 percent. It’s not quite as common as Harlequin, but it’s ranked among the top cannabidiol strains.
  • ACDC – One of the strongest cannabidiol strains on the market, the CBD to THC ratio for ACDC averages 20:1 with CBD levels at around 19 percent.
  • Harle-Tsu – This strain is a cross between Harlequin and Sour Tsunami. The CBD to THC ratios tend to vary greatly, anywhere from 1:1 to 20:1, so it’s not as reliable as the mother-strain Harlequin.

It’s believed that CBD works best in tandem with other cannabinoids – such as THC – but since THC can cause impairment, many people aren’t interested in strains with a 50:50 balance. Needless to say, since CBD has no psychoactive effects, it’s much milder and more calming compared to THC strains. Smoking a CBD strain is a great way to stay medicated while still remaining focused on your day-to-day tasks.
