So when these powerful people speak, many listen, even if the celebrity isn’t perfectly qualified in the area of expertise which they’re talking about. Such is the nature of celebrity status and power in 2018 – for better or for worse, or perhaps for both.
When it comes to medical cannabis and CBD, there is a growing number of these A-listers who think that products like CBD oil are better for you than prescription meds, in many cases. Indeed, some even went one step further and decided to make a business out of medical cannabis.
Let’s take a look at the most famous celebrities who just love medical cannabis and CBD – and perhaps we’ll gain an insight as to why…
Whoopi, the star of many a Hollywood blockbuster and a much-loved face to millions of Americans, is a big cannabis fan. So much so that she went into business with another celebrity to sell medical cannabis and CBD products globally. Whoopi is often seen with her CBD vape pen, which she uses publicly to treat her glaucoma. Whoopi claims the medicine gives her pain and stress relief, easing the discomfort in her eyes.
Melissa Etheridge is a rock star who has faced and overcome some remarkable challenges in her life. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2004, Etheridge has used medical cannabis and CBD for the past 12 years to treat her symptoms. She was even arrested during a recent trip to Canada, at the border, as she was carrying cannabis on her tour bus. She was booked at the time and had a mugshot taken, but pleaded not guilty in court.
Montel Williams is another well-known celeb who thinks medical cannabis is a good thing. Having been diagnosed years ago with multiple sclerosis that caused him a lot of pain, Williams took to medical cannabis. According to him, medical cannabis and CBD “changed my life” and he claims that he will take it until his dying day.
Oliver Stone is a well-known marijuana advocate and he makes no bones about that – in fact, he’s proud of it. From Vietnam and Thailand to Jamaica and South Sudan, the filmmaker thinks that cannabis prohibition is insane and needs to stop. He even said as much to reporters recently: “It can be done. It can be done legally, safely, healthy, and it can be taxed and the government can pay for education and stuff like that. Also, you can save a fortune by not putting kids in jail.”
Morgan Freeman is possibly the most iconic Hollywood celebrity of all on today’s list. At 80 years young, the ‘Shawshank Redemption’ star thinks that cannabis (which he uses for pain relief) and CBD should be legal. For Freeman, it all started 7 years ago when he was involved in a serious car accident. After his left arm and parts of his elbow were shattered, he underwent surgery, but the pain persisted afterwards. Freeman spoke to reporters about his cannabis use, saying, “I have fibromyalgia pain in my arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana.”
One of the best things about having celebrities interested in a cause is that they are able to rouse a lot more attention than a standard person. In this way, they can use their status to help spread awareness for good causes, like the blanket legalization of CBD and medical marijuana.
