New All-Natural, Vegan, CBD Hair Care on the Market

December 02, 2018

As many of you may have noticed recently, the beauty industry is latest to take the plunge into CBD territory with lotions, fragrances, soaps, makeup, and now, CBD hair care products.

Last month, Sephora announced that it would start carrying Lord Jones CBD lotion and just a couple weeks ago they started selling MILK Makeup’s popular KUSH Mascara, also infused with CBD oil. Following this surge of mainstream popularity, Kevin Wachs – CEO and co-founder of Earthly Body – was ready to tap into an undeveloped market when he launched EMERA Haircare, the first high-end CBD hair care product line to be infused with CBD/hemp oil.

Wachs’ first company, Earthly Body, was started back in 1994 with the premise of creating beauty products that were made from the best ingredients nature has to offer. The entire product line is and always has been 100% vegan and free of artificial dyes, propylene glycol, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

Eager to fill a gap in the industry, CEO and co-founder of Earthly Body Kevin Wachs launched EMERA Haircare, the first prestige hair care line infused with CBD Oil. American Salon talked with Wachs to learn about how EMERA came to fruition and how CBD’s long list of benefits translates to hair care. For years they have been utilizing hemp seed oil (not to be confused with CBD oil or full-spectrum cannabis oil) as their product’s base and sort of pioneered the way for other natural beauty lines to do the same.

In 2016, Kevin and his son Nick (who urged Kevin to explore the benefits of CBD) developed CBD Daily, a skincare line infused with pure cannabidiol. It was then that they decided to tap into the hair care side of the industry and they introduced EMERA products to their already loyal and widespread customer base. EMERA CBD Hair Care line includes 5 products: shampoo, conditioner, detangler, serum, and a deep-conditioning scalp treatment.

The beneficial CBD oil and additional natural ingredients such as hemp seed, avocado, sunflower, lemongrass, and other botanical extracts can help promote hair growth, brighten and prolong hair color, reduce strand breakage, and help retain moisture in both the scalp and hair follicles. It also gives the hair softness, shine, and manageability, which is what we’re all essentially looking for in our hair care products.

Have you ever used EMERA hair care? What about any other CBD-infused hair care product such as Kail Lowry’s or Prose? If so, let us know what you thought!

Cannabis Smuggling on the Decline Between Mexico and U.S.A. by Frank Schuler

Cannabis advocates have long pointed out that when cannabis is prohibited, people still consume it. That may seem obvious, however, cannabis prohibitionists try very hard to pretend that it’s not the case. Under prohibition, cartels largely control cannabis sales. That is not to say that every single piece of cannabis is cartel controlled. Surely there […]
