Israel Bans JUUL E-cigarettes Due to Public Health Risk

August 22, 2018

Israel is saying NO to the popular JUUL e-cigarettes.

Affecting 15 days from today, Israel is banning the import and sale of JUUL e-cigarettes, citing grave public health concerns given their high nicotine content. A statement by Israel’s Health Ministry said that Israel has decided to ban JUUL e-cigarette because it poses “a grave risk to public health.”, due to the high nicotine levels. For reference, one Juul pod contains the same amount of nicotine as a pack of cigarettes.

After the new regulation will go into effect, only the low level nicotine version of JUUL will be allowed to use in Israel.

The JUUL electronic cigarette is the most popular e-cigarette sold today, holding over 60% of the e-cigarettes market. JUULs are small enough to fit in the palm of a small-framed hand, and they can be plugged into any USB port to be charged, so the device is commonly mistaken for a flash drive. As a result, as we have already reported earlier, JUUL has become very popular among american minors, who use it discreetly.

The new decision by Israeli ministry of Health, just demonstrates what we have been saying that E-cigarettes are not a healthy alternative to tobacco, but the opposite, serve as a gateway to harder drug use “electronic cigarettes may function as a ‘gateway drug’ that can prime the brain to be more receptive to harder drugs.”  (A 2014 study in the New England Journal of Medicine). We have also reported that several health authorities believe that e-cigarettes are a health risk and they should be regulated as a drug.

Learn more about the health risks of using e-cigarettes by reading “The Shocking Truth About E-Cigarettes” report, written by Dr. Leah Zachar, CBD Testers’ scientific adviser. That report also contradicted the common belief that e-cigarettes can be used as a tobacco alternative, offering a better way to do it, with the help of CBD. Click HERE for the full report.

According to reuters, Juul Labs Inc said it was “incredibly disappointed” with what it called a “misguided” decision.

August 13, 2022
