How to Use CBD Oil To Treat Vaginal Disorders

April 26, 2019

Blessed is the woman who has yet to experience the pain that comes from using the wrong products on her vagina. Anyone who has one knows how sensitive they can be to topical creams, lotions, sprays, and more. But here’s a bit of encouraging news: according to researchers, CBD-infused vaginal products treating common conditions a whole lot easier.

For most people, the search for vagina-friendly hygiene products has long been a process of trial and (often unpleasant) error. The wrong products can create an imbalance in the vagina’s delicate pH levels and the natural bacteria that keep it healthy. The skin in this part of the body is so sensitive that using the wrong product could make a bad situation much worse, which is why you should never hesitate to visit your doctor when suffering with vaginal health issues (it’s also worth noting that the first rule of these topical products is to keep them away from the area both in and around the vaginal opening).

Left unchecked, vaginal issues can cause pain, discomfort, and produce severe consequences: not only can they impact your sexual pleasure and sex drive, but also your mobility. That’s why finding a good product that you can use at home could be life-changing.

Recent scientific studies suggest that CBD-oil based creams and lotions could be some of the best for a range of vaginal disorders. Known in medical circles as cannabidiol, CBD is a natural chemical that is extracted in oil form from the cannabis plant. In recent years, CBD has been the subject of a growing number of studies that have investigated its potential in treating a diverse range of ailments. So far, the results have been highly encouraging — so much so that the World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that all international restrictions should be lifted on its sale and use, saying that it has no side effects and no potential to create dependence, unlike other medications.

But why exactly is it a good addition to vaginal products?

Studies have found that CBD is a remarkably gentle product that’s well tolerated by even the most sensitive skin. They’ve also shown that it can be a powerful anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal agent, which makes it useful in the treatment of many different vaginal health problems.

CBD for Treating Common Vaginal Problems

The reason why CBD-infused products are safer to use on the vagina and surrounding areas is because it stimulates the body to strengthen its own defenses, rather than delivering a harsh chemical blow to the affected area. It does this by activating the endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors throughout your body that controls many important functions, from skin health to mood to fertility.

As a result, CBD is uniquely suited to tackle a number of the most common vaginal health issues that women encounter in their lives.

Vaginal Inflammation
The vagina and surrounding areas can become inflamed for a number of reasons. Thrush is a common cause, as are latex condoms, silicone based lubes, and other irritating products. Although it’s a natural response by the immune system, unchecked inflammation often leads to swelling and pain. Because CBD is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory, it can offer much needed pain relief and reduce inflammation when you need it most.

Vaginal Bacteria
Bacterial infections in the vagina are more common than you might think. Perhaps the most common example is bacterial vaginosis, which occurs when the bacteria which grow naturally in the vaginal canal become too numerous and causes inflammation, itching, a burning sensation while urinating, and excessive discharge. Research shows that CBD can help to restore balance and reduce excessive bacteria and fight off the infections they cause.

Vaginal Fungus
Thrush is probably the most common complaint when it comes to vaginal health, and although it’s commonly known as a “yeast infection,” the real culprit is fungus. Fungi grow anywhere that is warm and moist, so the vagina is particularly vulnerable. While a certain amount of fungus is normal, infections (i.e. excessive amounts) can easily take hold. Studies that have examined the effect of CBD on various forms of fungus have found it to be highly effective at killing such infections.

Vaginal Irritation
The skin around the vagina is sensitive and can be easily irritated. This could be caused by harsh soaps or bath products, by the fabric in your underwear, or even by an allergy or intolerance to materials contained in sex toys or vaginal hygiene products like tampons. CBD oil is now commonly used to treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, where the skin is easily irritated — and that same ability makes it well suited to treating vaginal irritation.
